LWVCKC Hosts #Light4Democracy

Published on 3/10/2025

The League of Women Voters Central Kane County was proud to host our local Light 4 Democracy Vigil to bring citizens together in solidarity for democracy. More than 150 concerned citizens from all over Kane County, and some from neighboring counties, joined together to shine a light on the power of the people which begins with us, our voices, and our votes.

Though it was pouring rain, we were fortunate to gather inside. After quietly reflecting during our vigil, attendees broke in to two groups - one group that wanted to watch the President's speech and another who wished to gather as a community. With a successful turnout, it is our hope that such gatherings will give other members of the community the motivation to let their voices be heard to uphold our shared democratic values.

League of Women Voters US was a major sponsor of this nationwide event, along with Common Cause, American Federation of Teachers, Southern Poverty Law Center, and many other organizations.
