Candidate and Issue Forums in Kane County
The League of Women Voters of Central Kane County has a reputation for fair, nonpartisan forums that are open to the general public. We have a passionate Voter Service team, and our local League is well-respected by the community for both the frequency and the quality of our forums. It is not unusual for our forums to be covered by both local and regional news outlets. During or in advance of forums, members of the public are typically given the opportunity to submit questions, which are then screened by trained League members for relevance and bias prior to being asked. Forums are typically live-streamed and recorded by Batavia Access Television (BATV). The recordings are made available online for members of the public to view later.
League forums are a fantastic opportunity for members of the public to get to know their candidates and for candidates to share their views and respond directly to voter concerns. We urge every candidate who is invited to participate in a League forum to make themselves available to participate. Candidates with questions or concerns about participating in a League forum are welcome to reach out to our League leadership. We are happy to answer questions about what to expect and what we do to maintain fairness and avoid problems during our events.
